I have a personal tradition that happens after every election. No matter how it turns out and no matter how high or low my spirits are because of what happened – I turn my Bible to Psalm 2 and it brings me right back to the place I need to be.

Psalm 2:1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the Lord and against His Anointed One. 3 “Let us break their chains, they say, and throw off their fetters” (HERE’S MY FAVORITE PART) 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.”

And God declares in Verse 6: I have installed my King on Zion, My holy hill”

No matter who is IN or OUT today in the halls of congress and state capitols across the nation – no matter what your response is to last nights political drama – no matter which way our country leans in the next two years, the Bible says God gets a chuckle from it all. He’s laughing while political leaders are scrambling.

No matter who’s in charge down here – God’s enthroned above it all. Sounds good to me, and I hope it brings you back to a sense of calm and peace.

And it begs the question – if you are overwhelmed one way or the other from the results – is your hope built on the right foundation? Or it’s it left crumbling beneath you?

Verse 10 “Therefore you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the Earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear… Verse 12 …Blessed are all who take refuge in Him.”
