Today, in First Kings chapter 12 we look at two guys who really did not handle their own insecurities very well.<\/p>\r\n

The Kingdom of Israel divides at First Kings 12 and from this point on our study breaks down into the study of two kingdoms: both are two options for your life.<\/p>\r\n

  • Good and Evil kings.<\/li>\r\n
  • Each king has an epitaph\u2026 did they follow the Lord or not?<\/li>\r\n
  • True and False Prophets abound.<\/li>\r\n
  • God rules all nations, not just Israel.<\/li>\r\n

        Rehoboam\u2019s Insecurity:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

        • Felt like he had to prove himself.<\/li>\r\n
        • Caused him to listen to fools.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

          Jeroboam\u2019s Insecurity:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

          \r\n
          • Received God\u2019s Word YET failed to believe it.<\/li>\r\n
          • Leveraged created things to secure his own kingdom.<\/li>\r\n
          • Established Idols in the land.<\/li>\r\n
          • The Idols took hold of the people\u2019s hearts<\/li>\r\n
          • RESULT: A syncretized religion that God destroyed.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

            WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT INSECURITY?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

            \r\n
            • Every stage of life offers a \u201cnew\u201d insecurity.<\/li>\r\n
            • Everyone has one right now. (I\u2019m not alone).<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n

               <\/p>\r\n

              WHAT SHOULD I DO ABOUT IT?<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

              \r\n
              1. Learn from those who have been there before us (Elders).<\/li>\r\n
              2. Lean into God\u2019s promises again and again.<\/li>\r\n
              3. Lose yourself. Avoid \u201cself-preservation\u201d.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n

                 The PRAYER of the INSECURE SAINT:<\/p>\r\n

                 Father, I have never been here before and I have no idea what I\u2019m doing. But I choose today to trust You, to listen to Your Word and to do what it says even if it hurts or costs me. I believe this moment is temporary and that You give power to the powerless. May your kingdom come and will be done through this season of my life. And may Jesus Christ, Your Son get the GLORY from my STORY. Amen.<\/em><\/p>\r\n

                 • Everyone feels insecure about something.<\/li>\r\n
                 • Be aware that the devil will afflict you with insecurities and ungodly temptations.<\/li>\r\n

                 • The human heart loves to reject Scripture.<\/li>\r\n
                 • The Gospel sets us free from insecurity.<\/li>\r\n
