About This Project

Why Is a Messianic Rabbi Challenging Christian Pastors?

Massachusetts has become the center of a new battle over abortion following the passage of Chapter 188 of the Acts of 2026. Now, a statewide effort known as Repeal 188 is seeking to suspend and repeal the law.

In this episode of The Deep End, Pastor Tim Hatch sits down with Rabbi Henry Morse, a Messianic rabbi who has become involved in the Repeal 188 effort—and who has a pointed question for Christian pastors: Why aren’t more churches willing to speak up?

At the heart of their conversation is a larger issue facing the Church: When something is fundamentally a moral issue, should Christians retreat simply because the culture has labeled it political?

Rabbi Morse explains why he believes pastors and churches have a responsibility to engage the abortion issue and why silence can have consequences. He and Pastor Tim discuss biblical courage, persecution, cultural pressure, and the example of the early Church.

From Orthodox Judaism to Faith in Jesus

The conversation goes far beyond Massachusetts politics.

Rabbi Henry shares his personal journey from an Orthodox Jewish upbringing to faith in Jesus (Yeshua) and his experiences sharing the Gospel with Jewish people.

He also tells a deeply personal story about his father near the end of his life and discusses the Messianic prophecies that he believes point to Jesus.

Israel, October 7 and Antisemitism

Pastor Tim and Rabbi Henry also turn to Israel and the Jewish people, discussing the aftermath of October 7, rising antisemitism, Christian attitudes toward Israel, and Israel’s place in biblical prophecy.

The discussion ultimately returns to the same challenge with which it began: Will Christians—and particularly pastors—have the courage to speak when biblical convictions collide with cultural and political pressure?
