Romans chapter 8 is the greatest chapter in the Bible.

Romans 8 explains how to walk with Christ, how to have the joy of the Holy Spirit in your life, why we Christians have the Hope that we have, and how we can obtain the confidence and assurance that we that we are in Christ Jesus.

We are transformed by the Spirit, NOT by laws. The Holy Spirit does not work in you to accept Christ and then leave you to yourself to obey Christ. 💯💯

The Spirit is alive and active! The Holy Spirit helps us defeat sin in our lives.

Why does this matter? The HOLY SPIRIT at work in you is the ONLY ANSWER to what’s wrong with you!

Points to Note:

Sin: Abducts. Makes Slaves. Creates Fear Casts Division. DEATH.
God: Adopts. Makes Children. Creates Trust. Draws Close. LIFE.
The people of the NEXT age of Glory will be despised by those tied to the PRESENT age of Decay!
THE GREATEST BENEFIT TO OUR STRUGGLE WITH SIN: to teach us to rely more and more on God and less and less on ourselves.

THE HOLY SPIRIT PROVIDES:

Assurance of JUSTIFICATION.
POWER and DESIRE to Obey.
Indwelling RESURRECTION.
Leadership in TRANSFORMATION.
INTIMACY with the Father.
DESIRE for GLORIFICATION.

THE HOLY SPIRIT CREATES in us A SET OF Internal Obligations:

Romans 8:13 put to death the dead of the body.
Romans 8:14 let the Spirit have primary influence us.
Romans 8:15 draw near in intimacy with the Father.
Romans 8:18 long for heaven through the sorrows of earth
Romans 8:24-25 model hope for that which lay beyond this age.

In Your Fight with Sin:

You have the Spirit of God in you.
You are led by this Spirit.
You can WIN and defeat indwelling sin.
Suffering is the process of refining and preparing.
The future is brighter than you can imagine.

Romans 8 OUTLINE:

Romans 8:1–11 | The victorious life made possible in the Spirit.
Romans 8:12–17 | Our status as adopted children of God and heirs with Christ.
Romans 8:18–30 | The new hope (through groaning) that will lead to final glory.
Romans 8:31–39 | The absolute certainty of our security in God and unity with Christ.
