About This Project

What would we say about your life if we were only told about the bad things you did?

Understand that this is nothing new. It’s always going to be a challenge in your life to compromise your standards and give up ground spiritually because it’s hard to stand for Truth in the age of confusion and lies.

We must understand the difference between “Alluring” and “Anointed.”

God does not choose who we choose.
God does not elect who we elect.
God does not think like we think.

We do well to study First and Second Kings of the Bible now, so that we learn from their mistakes. God is building His church no matter what this world is yelling about.

SEEK to GROW in TRUTH, not to DABBLE in the LIES of this AGE.

Key Verse: 1 Kings 18:36-39 (ESV) 36And at the time of the offering of the oblation, Elijah the prophet came near and said, “O LORD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, let it be known this day that you are God in Israel, and that I am your servant, and that I have done all these things at your word. 37Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that you, O LORD, are God, and that you have turned their hearts back.” 38Then the fire of the LORD fell and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. 39And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, “The LORD, he is God; the LORD, he is God.”

Scriptures Studied: 1 Kings 1:1-10 (ESV)

Kings 1 & 2 Facts:

  • Author: Unkown
  • Genre: Narrative History (400 years).

Theological History of Kings 1 & 2:

  • Begins with David’s end (970 bc), Solomon’s building and ends with national devastation – exile to Babylon (561 bc).
  • Good and Evil kings.
  • Each king has an epitaph… did they follow the Lord or not?
  • True and False Prophets abound.
  • God rules all nations, not just Israel.
  • The Main Theme: There is ONE God in Israel.

Big Take Aways of Kings 1 & 2:

  • It’s not really about the “kings.”
  • God is working in the good and bad kings of the nation.
  • Kings are not judged by their successes but by how they honored the Lord as God.
  • Your Daddy doesn’t define you.
  • God is looking for people who acknowledge Him as the one true King regardless of popular opinion.
  • Servants move events forward in powerful ways.
  • God is intimately involved in the politics of the nations.
  • Ultimately God’s Will – not Human advances – determine the outcome of history.

Questions to Consider:

  1. What would we say about your life if we were only told about the bad things you did?
  2. What are some of the things that you find “alluring”?
  3. How has the world challenged your Christian faith?

Pastoral Thought:

  • Let’s pray for God to build our lives. Ask God to guard our eyes from this alluring cult of beauty and youth so that we don’t sabotage our significance in Him by serving these things that are never going to last and satisfy us.
