I wanted to title this Post:
“Breaking News! Scientific study confirms God was right all along!”
But that was too long for the header… anyway…
Faith works well for human begins, according to science…
Are you surprised by that statement?
Are you skeptical?
I read an incredibly interesting article from Time magazine that shows how people of faith experience a longer, healthier, wealthier, and happier life! There was too much material I could list so I encourage you to read it yourself.
But I wanted to especially reference this exceptional portion of the article:
Neal Krause, a sociologist and public-health expert at the University of Michigan, has tried to quantify some of those more amorphous variables in a longitudinal study of 1,500 people that he has been conducting since 1997. He has focused particularly on how regular churchgoers weather economic downturns as well as the stresses and health woes that go along with them. Not surprisingly, he has found that parishioners benefit when they receive social support from their church. But he has also found that those people who give help fare even better than those who receive it — a pillar of religious belief if ever there was one. He has also found that people who maintain a sense of gratitude for what’s going right in their lives have a reduced incidence of depression, which is itself a predictor of health. And in another study he conducted that was just accepted for publication, he found that people who believe their lives have meaning live longer than people who don’t.
There exists a certain irony when scientific study “finds out” what God said in the scriptures for thousands of years! It brings out my sarcastic side: “No Duh! Science, God already said that.”
In case you may have forgotten, here’s what the Word of God has been saying for a few Millennia:
From 4000 years ago…
Genesis 26:4-5 …through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, 5 because Abraham obeyed me and kept my requirements, my commands, my decrees and my laws.”
From 3500 years ago…
Deuteronomy 4:40 Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD your God gives you for all time.
Deuteronomy 6:3 Hear, O Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, promised you.
Joshua 1:7-8 Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
From 2000 Years ago (Jesus)…:
Matthew 7:24 Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
From 1930 Years Ago…
Acts 20:35 It is more blessed to give than to receive.
Who would have thought God was right all along? Of course I’m joking. The simple lesson from this post? Doing life God’s way yields a far better result than any other way.
Recently a new member of Waters Church told me he and his wife found our church through this blog. So I encourage YOU to find a church if you don’t already have one. Life without a community of faith is just NOT what you were made for.
