I love Jeremiah 18.  Love it.  While reading it this morning, something caught me that I never saw before.

V. 2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.”

God says, “Go to the potters house.”  Go to a place of business, go to a place away from the “worship” center for a moment.  I have a message for you that you will only hear outside of the “box” of your religious practice.

God loves to speak to us at any time and at any place.  Many times He speaks completely away from where we think we need to go to hear Him.

Are your eyes open?  Are your ears attentive?  Always?  Scholars agree that Jeremiah probably went by this house many times per week.  It was just part of the landscape.  But today, he would hear from  God there.

For us it would be like God telling us to go to Dunkin Donuts to hear from Him. Imagine that!

Chances are there’s a message from God waiting for you at the factory where tools are manufactured, or at the bakery where bread rises with yeast, or at the dentist office while you listen to the sound of the drill, or at your car mechanic’s where patience is tested! 🙂

What I’m saying is – while you must come to church – God wants to speak to you OUTSIDE of church too!  So open up your eyes.  Let your ears tune in to the Holy Spirit.  Today there may be a life-altering moment in that normal routine of yours.

“Go down to the ______________, and there I will give you my message.”
