What to Expect when the Gospel is Preached

Please take note:

When the Gospel is preached, Satan will fight us (1 Thessalonians 2:18).

When the Gospel is preached, Judases attack us (Luke 22:3).

When the Gospel is preached, false accusations surround us (Mark 14:56).

When the Gospel is preached, the government may threaten us (Acts 5:28).

When the Gospel is preached, some will abandon the mission God gave us (2 Timothy 4:10).

When the Gospel is preached, former allies will turn enemies from among us (1 John 2:19).

When the Gospel is preached, pagans will scoff at us (Acts 17:32).

When the Gospel is preached, unrepentant sinners will oppose us (Acts 19:23-26).

Ready to give up?

NEVER.

Because…

When the Gospel is preached, the Holy Spirit will anoint us (Isaiah 61:1).

When the Gospel is preached, darkness becomes light around us (1 Peter 2:9).

When the Gospel is preached, miracles happen (Acts 20:7-12).

When the Gospel is preached, hearts are opened to hear it (Acts 16:14).

When the Gospel is preached, the Angels will direct us (Acts 8:26).

When the Gospel is preached, the Angels will deliver us (Acts 5:19-20).

When the Gospel is preached, prison doors will be opened (Acts 12:6-11).

When the Gospel is preached, heaven invades earth (Ephesians 2:6).

When the Gospel is preached, nations will be changed (Psalm 2:8).

When the Gospel is preached, souls are saved (2:40-41).

My friends, we have so much more going for us than stands against us. If you are new to the mission of Jesus remember two things: (1) the world will absolutely resist what God has given us to do and (2) the world cannot ever STOP what God has given us to do.

This week I pondered the wonderful things happening in and through our Church. The baptisms, the life changes, the presence of the Holy Spirit so alive and real in our meetings (1st Tuesday was off the hook!). I can honestly say I’m blown away by God’s goodness to us in spite of all that went wrong for the world in 2020. I’m not surprised that people reported us to the board of health. I’m not surprised that some people can no longer support us. But I’m also not surprised that God is still blessing and adding to us. These are the expected realities of the very real and unseen spiritual war in the heavenly realm as we soldier forward in the mission to deliver God’s message to the men and women He is saving.

Press on!

The best is ALWAYS yet to come!

BTW: We passed the Board of Health’s inspection with flying colors and 19 people got saved this weekend and we have 7 baptisms coming up this weekend. Praise be to God!

Inspiring words and thank you. The world looks different but is largely the same. With the world being reported as in total chaos I am reminded to focus on the path directly in front of me to stay aware. No politicians will save us, no illness will kill us all, no economy will ever remove poverty completely and yet the promise of Christ has not wavered 1 inch. He has offered me hope, peace and joy eternally. He gave everything for my sins on the cross. We are all faced with the new look of the world with the greatness of new technology and achievements above any the world has seen to date. And we are faced with the new look of the world in the depravity of racial tensions and a global pandemic, political unrest. Christ was not focussed on how things looked, and neither will I be. Christ was not worried about the trouble in front of Him. Nor will I worry. I will live by His example and truth. He lived to start this church and he died to save my soul. I will honor Him by not wavering 1 inch in my faithfulness to Him. Everything else is simply, everything else. And because of your amazing words and loving friendship in welcoming me in to your family at Waters Church, you will forever have my respect and thanks, friendship, financial support, love and whatever else I have here to offer up. Keep preaching to us, we hear you and we are grateful and its changing lives.

The spiritual forces of Good and Evil are so palpable this year. Pastor Tim and his flock should be shielded constantly by prayers. He is one of the few in RI and MASS who preach the Scriptures and is bold. Thank you.

I thank God for you Pastor Tim, your wife Cheryl, your father in law, pastor Geyser and our entire team of leaders at Waters Church. I have many friends who’s church doors have remained closed since the beginning of Covid. We are blessed to be part of a church that refuses to take a knee to the enemy. Many will, and have, come against us for our leaders decision to not let anything stop us from spreading the Gospel. I feel blessed that I can say I stand with strong men and women of faith during these evil days. May God bless every leader in our church and hedge them with a supernatural protection, as our church continues to do the work God has assigned us!

David looked to God for EVERY answer. We should do no less. The blog above does that for the times and the contexts that bring life into focus for every Christian. If you are a Christian who is struggling to understand these things, then you do the searching of God’s Word. You find the verses, the stories, the sermons that are changing the world to this 2020 moment. God is about moments, and He is about Missions. You should no longer doubt that, but should cry out to the God who still loves you, proving Himself to you two-thousand years ago and every day since, from your Conception to your agenda NOW! He is the God who SAVES. We all need some saving today. We all need some mission today. We need some reason to get up in the morning, some reason to put on the mask and take off the mask. But most of all, we need the One who unmasks Satan in the wilderness and in the Garden and on the Cross. He is the One who sees Satan falling from heaven like LIGHTNING! Drink from His cup. Embrace His plans. Walk in His LIGHT. This strange year of your life can become the best year ever through the God who Saves.

Thank you for sharing this. As a missionary student I saw how Satan attacks when the gospel is preached. His efforts are evil, his lies are unfounded, and his tactics are ruthless, but Jesus already won the war for our souls and I know God is with me in spite of Satan’s attacks. Praise God for His many blessings!!! Don’t stop sharing the gospel.

After I commented, I continued checking my email. This was my daily reading, and how fitting.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
    Joshua 1:9

Yes it was off the hook Tuesday and the spirit was powerful. It’s a spiritual war that Jesus gives us armour for and although Satan tries to win the battle is already won! I love Waters church and am blessed to be a member.

Pastor Tim … You are a truly great example of what Godly Bravery looks like. The forces of evil are ramping up in our culture very quickly. Your awareness of this reality comes across in a powerful way and your willingness to lead us against this dark worldly force from Hell is so rare. I have never heard the fullness and power of the Gospel preached as it is from you … The Scripture rootedness of the preaching at Waters is better than pure gold. Sunday morning at Waters truly occupies the center stage of my week.
