One of the texts I love from the book of Mark which I won’t get to preach on in this Series comes from Mark 10.

Mark 10:13 People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Children own the kingdom of God. Why?

1. A Child forgives easily.

I see this with my own kids and others as well. Children let hurts pass by. Amazing how children are so much better than adults on this very important facet of life.

2. A Child looks at life with wide-eyed wonder.

Things that we take for granted bowl them over. Just take a kid to the store, buy a kite and see what happens!

3. A Child easily comes to faith in Jesus.

I’ve had so many “back and forth” conversations with skeptical adults on faith in Christ. I find many of them have lost the ability to take anything on faith. Some people reach an age where they are foolish enough to believe they’ve got God or the “lack thereof” all figured out. I have never had that kind of conversation with a child.

The best thing a child has going for him/her is the innate understanding of their own ignorance concerning the depth of such matters. And through that simple curiosity, faith comes so easily.

Come to Jesus like a child:
– As if you don’t actually have it all figured out.
– As if there is still a ton of exploring for you to do (which there is).
– As if He’s waiting to do for you what He did for the children in Mark 10…

Mark 10:16 “And He took the children in His arms, put His hands on them and blessed them.”

If you’re being childish when it comes to faith… Keep it up.
