About This Project

Welcome to “The Deep Dive” – your Bible study destination where we delve deep into God’s Word to understand how He desires to relate to us and how we should respond.

In this episode, we’re diving into Exodus 25 and embarking on an exciting journey through the Tabernacle of Israel – a miniseries within our larger study of the Torah. Join us as we uncover the profound significance of the Tabernacle as a picture of Christ.

Throughout the vast majority of Exodus, we find detailed instructions and descriptions of the Tabernacle – the place where God dwelt among His people in the old covenant. But this isn’t just a history lesson; it’s a revelation of God’s desire to dwell with us, both then and now.

We’ll explore the intricate design specifications, the appointment of Bezalel and Oholiab to lead the construction project, and the contributions and construction of the Tabernacle itself. While these chapters may seem daunting, they reveal the heart of God and His longing for relationship with His people.

But why focus on the Tabernacle? Because it points us to Jesus! Just as the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, the Tabernacle foreshadows Christ’s presence among humanity. And as Revelation tells us, God’s ultimate desire is for us to dwell with Him for eternity.

So, join us as we unpack the Tabernacle and its profound implications for our relationship with the Lord. Don’t let this be the section of the Bible where your reading journey ends – let it be the beginning of a deeper understanding of God’s desire to dwell with you!

SPIRITUAL TRUTHS from the TABERNACLE

The Tabernacle is a Picture of Knowing the Lord

  • Exodus 25:8 (ESV) And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst.
  • Exodus 25:10 (ESV) “They shall make an ark of acacia wood. Two cubits and a half shall be its length, a cubit and a half its breadth, and a cubit and a half its height.

From the INSIDE OUT.

Philippians 2:12–13 (ESV) work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

The Tabernacle is a Picture of Christ’s Humility

Philippians 2:6–8 (ESV) (Christ) who, though He was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

The Tabernacle is a Picture of God’s Love for Sinners

  • Exodus 32:9 (ESV) And the Lord said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people.
  • Deuteronomy 7:7 (ESV) It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples,
  • Acts 7:51 (ESV) “You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you always resist the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.

Remember the original problem!

  • Genesis 3:8 (ESV) And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
  • Genesis 3:24 (ESV) He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.
  • Isaiah 59:2 (ESV) your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.

The Tabernacle is a Picture of God’s Eternal Plan:

Revelation 21:3 (ESV) And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

What Can We Conclude:
– God is holy and separate from sinners.
– God desires sinners to come to Him.
– God has made Himself available to sinners.
– The work necessary to make us right with God has been fully accomplished and will be fully completed in and through Christ Jesus!
