The Book of Enoch: Was It Really Removed From the Bible?

Was the Book of Enoch removed from the Bible? Does it reveal hidden information about fallen angels, the Nephilim, extraterrestrials, or even secret technology? And if the New Testament quotes Enoch, why isn’t it included in most Christian Bibles today?

The Book of Enoch has become the center of a new wave of viral theories questioning the reliability of the biblical canon. After Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna discussed the Book of Enoch while talking about UFOs, interdimensional beings, and government investigations, an ancient Jewish text suddenly became part of a much larger online conversation about aliens, Antarctica, NASA, fallen angels, and supposedly hidden books of the Bible.

In this episode of The Deep End, Pastor Tim Hatch separates viral claims from what the Book of Enoch actually says and examines the bigger question behind the controversy: Can Christians trust the Bible they have today?

Tim walks through the history and contents of 1 Enoch, an ancient Jewish apocalyptic work attributed to Enoch, the biblical figure described in Genesis as the seventh generation from Adam. He explains the book’s sections, including the Book of the Watchers and its expanded account of fallen angels, the Nephilim, heavenly visions, judgment, and other supernatural themes.

The episode also examines one of the biggest arguments for Enoch’s biblical authority: Jude 14–15 quotes from 1 Enoch. Does a New Testament writer quoting Enoch mean the entire Book of Enoch should be considered inspired Scripture?

Tim explains why that conclusion doesn’t necessarily follow. The Bible also references material from sources outside the biblical canon. A biblical writer can use a statement from another work without declaring everything contained in that work to be divinely inspired.

🌎 Cultural Relevance

The Book of Enoch has moved far beyond academic discussions about ancient Jewish literature. Social media, podcasts, UFO disclosure claims, conspiracy theories, and renewed fascination with the supernatural have introduced the book to millions of people who may know very little about how the Bible was formed.

That creates an important opportunity—and challenge—for Christians.

Questions about Enoch often lead to much bigger questions: Who decided which books belong in the Bible? Were books deliberately removed? Can we trust the biblical canon? Does the Bible hide information about angels, the Nephilim, or the supernatural world?

Christians shouldn’t be afraid of those questions. But they should examine the historical evidence rather than allowing viral videos, conspiracy theories, or claims of hidden knowledge to determine what they believe about Scripture.

The Book of Enoch is ancient, fascinating, and historically important. But the existence of an ancient religious text outside most biblical canons does not mean someone secretly removed it from your Bible.
