About This Project

How can we be faithful in our witness to Christ or for Christ to unbelievers in evil times?
It looks like the world is going to hell in a hand-basket. It looks like the powers of evil are triumphing over good: societal decay, UFOs, aliens, WEF, apocalyptic films…

It looks like people are so confused there’s no bringing them back and we’re on the brink of destruction or self implosion.

But, what we’re experiencing right now dear Christian is nothing new!

The TRUTH is: It’s not the big moments of deliverance through which God rescues His people. Sometimes it’s the private unseen commitments and simple service of His people that God uses to deliver His people.

This is an amazing portion of Scripture: 2 Kings 11 and 12 clearly provide a picture of the cosmic order of the calendar of events on God’s cosmic calendar and it teaches us about what to do in the midst of dark and evil times.

I am so excited to come to you with this content– EVERY Pastor should preach on it. Let’d dig right in.

Scriptures Studied:  2 Kings 11-12; 2 Chronicles 24:7; 2 Chronicles 24:17-25; 2 Samuel 7:16; 2 Kings 8:18-19

Kings 1 & 2 Facts:

  • Author: Unkown
  • Genre: Narrative History (400 years).

Theological History of Kings 1 & 2:

  • Begins with David’s end (970 bc), Solomon’s building and ends with national devastation – exile to Babylon (561 bc).
  • Good and Evil kings.
  • Each king has an epitaph… did they follow the Lord or not?
  • True and False Prophets abound.
  • God rules all nations, not just Israel.
  • The Main Theme: There is ONE God in Israel.

Points to Note:

  1. A repeated reminder – at this time, Israel NEEDS a TRUE King.
  2. Sometimes it’s not the BIG MOMENTS in public that preserve God’s people. Sometimes it’s the UNSEEN commitments and dutiful service to the Lord that does it.
  3. YES, the Kingdom of God has at times seemed to be on the verge of oblivion.
  4. The word “testimony” = the Torah or Law
  5. You reform a nation by giving them a copy of the Bible.
  6. GOD’s PROMISES are TRUSTWORTHY.

Christ the KING.

  • Protected from violent evil as a child.
  • Hidden for a time.
  • Soon to be revealed.
  • Enemies to be destroyed.
  • Joy for all His people.

Pastoral Thoughts:

  1. There is always a problem with parents take instruction from their children and not their pastor.
  2. Jesus is the rightful king: People reject or ignore him. It is our job to preserve the message. So that He can be revealed.
  3. You cannot love the Lord and NOT LOVE His House.
  4. The House of the Lord MUST translate into external witness for the Lord.

Questions to Consider:

  1. Are you putting God first in your life?
  2. What idols do you need to expel from your life?
  3. Are you allowing God to do a work in you not just through you?
  4. Are you living in a state of comfortable Christianity?
  5. Are you ready for action and prepared for Jesus’ near return?
  6. Are you activated in the midst of these wicked times to prepare the way of the Lord?

Challenge:

Read the Word of God daily, seek Him, and fast and pray for revival.
